Pig and Wolf coming to Hanover, NH

You may have seen the sign outside Hanover Town Hall reading " 'Hanover's gone hog wild for pig and wolf. There's a passel of pigs and a pack of wolves and they are on their way' "(Caruso, Aimee. Valley News. 23 January 2011. p. B5), and wondered what it is allValley News 1/23/11 about.  Hanover is preparing for a unique celebration of her 250th Anniversary this summer.  Fiberglass sculptures of 10 pigs and 10 wolves will be painted by selected artists and placed throughout town around Memorial Day to generate interest in the anniversary celebrations.

Artist Raymond Paulin created these 20 sculptures using models made by Hanover resident Willy Black, a retired art teacher, who created the original pig and wolf 10 years ago (Caruso, Aimee. Valley News. 23 January 2011. p. B1).  Black created the first prototypes, which were placed outside the Town Hall. Over a dozen artists have submitted designs for the remaining pigs and wolves that will be dispersed throughout Hanover and auctioned off in the fall.

So keep an eye out for these pigs and wolves around Hanover come Memorial Day.  To read the full Valley News article, visit http://www.vnews.com/01232011/7576062.htm.  Also visit the Hanover, NH town website for town services and community events at http://www.hanovernh.org/.
